RNC to file FEC report against Obama
The Republican National Committee accused Barack Obama’s presidential campaign of flouting campaign finance laws and called for an audit of the Democrat’s fundraising operation. The Republican National Committee (RNC) will file a formal complaint to the Federal Election Commission (FEC) on Monday that accuses Sen. Obama’s (Ill.) campaign of taking contributions from individuals who are foreigners and who have given more during the primary than the $2,300-per-person limit.
McCain and the Fact-Checking Fallacy
The point of all this is that factchecking reports begin with an analysis of details but end with the factchecker’s opinion of what an ad or speech “implies” or what “impression” it leaves. And that takes the fact-checkers away from the realm of fact.
Are you violating state gun laws?
Would it be considered a "contract" if a firearms identification (FID) card, which allows the bearer to own firearms, was issued that stated the valid period was "indefinite" or "until revoked"? A 2002 report released by the Commonwealth`s House Post and Oversight Committee reported the state of Massachusetts failed to notify nearly 750,000 gun owners that their FID cards would prematurely expire due to the Massachusetts Gun Control Act of 1998. Did the 1998 law turn some of our law-abiding citizens into felons?
What effect will Sarah Palin have?
Hooks, lines and sinkers dot the walls at Vanasse`s Bait and Tackle shop in Fox Hill, where the over-the-counter chatter hums with the pulse of conservative politics in Hampton Roads. But in Hampton Roads, Dunn believes that Palin could be the deciding factor on Election Day. "She`s the trump card in Virginia," Dunn said. "Unless they turn Palin loose in Virginia, they`re likely going to lose Virginia."
New Jersey: Healy still sticking to his gun ... legislation
A state appellate court struck down on Monday Mayor Jerramiah Healy`s "one handgun a month" ordinance for Jersey City, but Healy is hoping state legislators will make it a state law instead.
NRA plans a wider ad assault on Barack Obama in battleground states
The National Rifle Assn. is about to turn up the volume on its campaign against Barack Obama, airing more ads taking him to task over his gun record.<P>
Starting as early as Sunday, the NRA will be airing a new batch of spots in more battleground states, such as Ohio, Virginia and Florida. As colleague Noam Levey reported back in June, some say the NRA is losing sway. But Democrats, who generally favor restrictions on guns, still shy away from the issue, particularly in must-win swing states.
Doggone-it, She Winked!
“How long have I been at this?” Alaska governor Sarah Palin asked rhetorically during the first and only vice-presidential debate of the season Thursday night in St. Louis. “Like, five weeks?” From the moment she asked Joseph Biden, who’s been in the Senate since she was in the second grade, “Can I call you Joe?” she had won people over.
Sporting Arms Industry Statement on Failures of Ballistic Imaging Database
Following an AP article (“NY new-gun database has yet to lead to prosecution,” September 29, 2008) citing the failures of the New York and Maryland ballistic imaging databases, and testimony yesterday in a Washington, D.C. City Council hearing where the Executive Director of the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence conceded that ballistic imaging has “not been successful.”

Kaine restores voting rights to felons
Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine has granted voting rights to nearly 1,500 felons this year, bumping up the voter rolls ahead of next month's presidential election and putting himself on pace to exceed the record-setting pattern of his predecessor. During his four years as governor, Mark Warner, a Democrat now running for the U.S. Senate, restored voting rights to 3,414 ex-convicts in Virginia. That exceeded the combined total for all Virginia governors during the previous 20 years.

Gov. Matt Blunt today issued the following statement on news reports that have exposed plans by U.S. Senator Barack Obama to use Missouri law enforcement to threaten and intimidate his critics.
Obama Pressures Stations to Drop NRA Spot
The Obama campaign’s effort to pressure TV stations in Pennsylvania and Ohio to stop airing a National Rifle Association ad is “frightening” and “dangerous,” a campaign finance expert said. “When a candidate threatens a broadcaster with government sanction over the content of an ad, it is very worrisome to the First Amendment and the guarantee of free political debate,” said Sean Parnell, president of the Center for Competitive Campaigns, an organization that focuses on money in politics.
Debate, Tanked
“My dictionary defines “moderator” as “the nonpartisan presiding officer of a town meeting.” On Thursday, PBS anchor Gwen Ifill will serve as moderator for the first and only vice presidential debate. The stakes are high. The Commission on Presidential Debates, with the assent of the two campaigns, decided not to impose any guidelines on her duties or questions.” Writes Michelle Malkin. “But there is nothing “moderate” about where Ifill stands on Barack Obama. She’s so far in the tank for the Democratic presidential candidate, her oxygen delivery line is running out.”
Obama`s Thought Police
The Obama campaign is demanding that the Justice Department bring criminal charges against a non-profit advocacy organization and one of its donors because they have the audacity to sponsor a television ad criticizing the close connection between Obama and unrepentant former terrorist William Ayers.

Obama contiues to try to mislead gun owners
Sen. Barack Obama is again lying by stating he is “a strong supporter of the Second Amendment” who will not try take Americans’ guns away if elected. But, Obama also said, he is for “some common sense gun safety laws.” Some of the “common sense” gun laws Obama supports include: one gun a month purchase restrictions, local handgun bans, the Clinton gun ban, and huge taxes on firearms.
Unlike Clinton, Biden Gets Pass for Saying He Was 'Shot At' in Iraq
When Hillary Clinton told a tall tale about "landing under sniper fire" in Bosnia, she was accused of "inflating her war experience" by Barack Obama's campaign -- but the campaign has been silent about Joe Biden telling his own questionable story about being "shot at" in Iraq.
Former Obama Campaign Advisor: “Use common sense to regulate the flow of guns”
Radical anti-gun activist and former Obama campaign advisor Michael Pfleger must not have gotten he memo from the Obama Campaign to repeat the mantra that Obama is not anti-gun. Instead, he is talking about some of the gun laws Obama and his followers want passed nation wide: One gun per month, reinstate the assault weapon ban, require universal background regulate gun shows, allow the use of ATF data to be used in reckless lawsuits and national gun registration and owner licensing.
When deadly force is justified
The Indiana law that justifies use of deadly force for people defending themselves, their home or others in danger is seldom used, but this week`s case involving a Northwestside family brings it to the spotlight. Indiana is like 22 other states, mostly in the Midwest and South, that since 2005 have strengthened deadly force laws to ensure that crime victims could not be prosecuted for rightfully defending their family or home.

Brenda Valentine was running a beauty shop in rural Tennessee when her shooting skills came to the attention of the hunting industry. Today, she is a television star and paid speaker at hunting conventions, where fans wait in lines for her autograph.
Court shoots down law limiting gun purchases
A state appeals court yesterday struck down a controversial Jersey City law seeking to limit the number of handguns people can buy. Jersey City`s law had sought to keep people from buying more than one handgun every 30 days. The unanimous appeals panel said Jersey City exceeded its authority and didn`t have a right to enact such a local law because state law already regulates the sale of handguns.
It's economy with the truth, stupid
Just imagine what the sneering left intelligentsia, in the United States and elsewhere, would have said if a Republican vice-presidential candidate had told CBS News that "when the stockmarket crashed [in 1929], Franklin Roosevelt got on television" and informed Americans what had happened.
Lehigh County DA, Allentown Mayor duel over city gun law
Lehigh County District Attorney James Martin is urging Allentown Mayor Ed Pawlowski to withdraw a proposed ordinance requiring gun owners to report lost or stolen guns, calling it unconstitutional and unenforceable.
Concealed or open carrying of guns at issue in city case
A 2003 Ohio Supreme Court ruling said openly carrying a weapon was a constitutional right but that restrictions could be placed on concealing firearms. That latter stipulation prompted House Bill 347, which put in place uniform rules for concealed carrying and created Ohio`s "Right to Bear Arms" law in March 2007 to clearly state that open carry was legal.
More women find hunting a way to keep the table full
